Transforming Waste into Hope: Trash to Treasure A Collaboration with Hope in Hearts and CSUN

On June 17, 2023, Hope in Hearts and CSUN collaborated to present an innovative partnership called “Trash to Treasure” during The Wellness Celebration and Special Tribute to Phil Magaram. The event took place at the Marilyn Magaram Center Activities Reception in the exterior SQ Courtyard at California State University.

The Trash to Treasure collaboration introduced a groundbreaking solution that involved converting waste into valuable resources. This initiative aimed to combat pollution while simultaneously addressing homelessness and hunger within the community. By repurposing waste materials and transforming them into valuable resources like building materials for homes, this collaboration offered a practical and sustainable solution to these pressing issues.

During the event, there was a Trash to Treasure booth that displayed informational materials and a sample of a recycled block that can be used decoratively, as well as mini-scaled model houses for a proposed Village of Hope that will be built using waste materials.

The Wellness Celebration and Special Tribute to Phil Magaram served as a gathering point for individuals from diverse backgrounds who shared a common interest in exploring wellness, culinary artistry, food production, and community collaboration. The
event had a profound impact on all the attendees, fostering a sense of unity and purpose in their shared pursuit of a brighter and more sustainable future.

Hope in Hearts is now reaching out to the community for support. Donations or grants are needed to help realize the vision of building the Village of Hope. Providing sustainable housing and addressing the needs of the homeless population. If you are interested in supporting the construction of the Village of Hope or would like to
contribute in any way, please contact us at +1 818 736-2133 or info@hopeinhearts.org. Your generosity will help us transform waste into opportunity and provide hope to those in need.
