According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 1 in 7 of the more than 23,500 runaways are likely a victim of child sex trafficking. In the  State Department 2019 report,  it was reported that the three top nations of origin for human trafficking victims were the United States, Mexico and the Philippines

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.

1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.

325,000 children are at risk of becoming victims of exploitation.

Nearly 40% of children in the United States live in low-income families with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Children who live in communities with high levels of poverty are four times more likely to be chronically absent. Reasons for this include unstable housing, unreliable transportation, and a lack of access to health care. By sixth grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. 12% of high school dropouts are unemployed and are more than eight times as likely to commit crimes and serve prison time.

552,830 Americans are homeless and needlessly suffering.  That’s 1 in every 588 Americans . Over 194,467 people will sleep on the street across the USA tonight. These ten states with the highest homeless rates account for 55% of the homeless population – CA, NY, FL, TX, WA, MA, OR, PA, IL, CO.

Roughly 45% of all homeless veterans are African American or Hispanic, despite only accounting for 10.4% and 3.4% of the U.S. veteran population, respectively. About 1.4 million veterans, are considered at risk of homelessness due to an extreme shortage of affordable housing, livable income and access to health care – a large number of displaced and at-risk veterans live with lingering effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse, which are compounded by a lack of family and social support networks. Additionally, military occupations and training are not always transferable to the civilian workforce, placing some veterans at a disadvantage when competing for employment. This transient nature of homeless populations presents a major difficulty were approximately 40,056 veterans are homeless on any given night.

In 2019, 1,762,450 new cancer cases and 606,880 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States. Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide and is the second leading cause of death in the United States.
